The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula raised $92,000 at its 8th annual “Great Futures: Wearing & Sharing the Green” breakfast in Port Angeles, drawing 220 attendees in support of local youth programs.

A highlight of the event was the dedication of the newly named Lane Richards Gymnasium, honoring former Forks resident and longtime Port Angeles resident known for his passion for athletics, nutrition, and healthy living.

“With the naming of the gymnasium, his name becomes part of a place where young people are learning those same lessons every single day,” said CEO Mary Budke. “Having this space connected to Lane’s legacy means children are surrounded daily by a message that healthy habits, perseverance, and a positive attitude can shape an entire future.”

The tribute was made possible through the support of his widow, Karen Richards, and friend Sara Maloney.

Funds raised will help support more than 1,250 youth across Sequim and Port Angeles, helping keep membership affordable while sustaining programs focused on academics, wellness, and leadership.
