A coordinated law enforcement response brought a resolution to a campus-wide lockdown at the Quillayute Valley School District on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after school officials received information warning of a potential shooting.

According to an initial summary from the City of Forks/Forks Police Department, the district initiated a “lock-down, shelter in place” at approximately 12:10 p.m. after discovering information suggesting a possible threat later in the day.

Local officers, along with state, county, federal, and tribal law enforcement personnel, responded quickly to the scene. Agencies from both Clallam and Jefferson counties were among those assisting in the operation, working together to secure the district’s campus and assess the situation.

Emergency response resources, including fire and medical services, were placed on standby nearby in case they were needed. During the lockdown, all school buildings were secured, and access to district property was restricted while law enforcement conducted their investigation and ensured the safety of students and staff.

By approximately 2:15 p.m., authorities completed their initial assessment and determined it was safe to lift the lockdown. Students were released from campus, and non-law enforcement emergency responders were dismissed shortly afterward.

Officials confirmed that an investigation into the reported threat remains ongoing. At this time, no additional details have been released.

City and law enforcement officials emphasized that the response was precautionary and aimed at ensuring the safety of the school community while authorities worked to verify the credibility of the threat.
