The Forks Old-Fashioned 4th of July Horseshoes Tournament was held at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 5, at Tillicum Park in Forks.

This year there were 38 players throwing shoes under beautiful blue skies.

The random draw for the winners bracket had many strong teams and past champions facing each other early and often.

The last match of that bracket saw the team of stepbrothers Troy Pearce and Wade McCoy edge out the team of Floyd McCoy and grandson Dalton Kilmer to remain undefeated.

In the losers bracket, Floyd and Dalton had another nail-biter of a game but eventually topped Leon Daman and Jr Dean to win the losers bracket and set up a rematch with Troy and Wade.

The championship game was a back-and-forth battle as well, and despite 4 straight ringers by Dalton, the title went to Troy and Wade 21-18.

Troy and Wade claimed their fifth title as a team and the top prize of $200 as well as T-shirts donated by Pepsi.

Many thanks to Pepsi for the shirts, the City of Forks maintenance staff for prepping the pits, Alissa Kilmer for loud speaking, as well as those who helped set out and pick up the equipment.

Final Results:

1st: Troy Pearce & Wade McCoy

2nd: Dalton Kilmer & Floyd McCoy

3rd: Leon Daman & Jr Dean

4th: Eric Huling & Ted Peterson

5th: Scott McNutt & Bryson King
