First Warrior Expeditions participant arrives at La Push

Last Tuesday was a day of celebration in La Push as the first of the Warrior Expeditions riders arrived at the Pacific shore! It is always special for Forks American Legion members to greet the riders and lend a hand as they complete their incredible journey from Washington, D.C., to La Push.
There are still three riders making their way west, currently working through the smoke from the many fires burning across the region. Patrick Smith made it through before the latest wind shift, and fortunately, his biggest weather challenge was a little rain.
After arriving, Patrick took a short side trip to the ocean, where a couple of folks from the Trails Coalition helped make a video for his travel log. The everyone gathered at the Quileute Veterans Memorial for some photos, including one with most of the gang who came out to welcome him.
A big thank-you to Joe, Rick, John (not pictured), and Gene, who are among the faithful greeters who continue to welcome these riders as they complete their journeys. “It was wonderful spending time with Patrick, hearing his story and celebrating his arrival,” Joe shared.
Welcome, Patrick, and well done! What an accomplishment!
