US 101 paving near Humptulips starts Aug. 17

Travelers should add 15 minutes to daytime trips

HUMPTULIPS – People will soon see work to improve the driving surface of US 101 near Humptulips.

Starting Monday, August 17, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will begin work to pave areas of US 101 between Humptulips and Neilton.

What to expect

Travelers will see one-way alternating traffic from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Crews will begin on northbound US 101 near Donkey Creek Road and work north towards Neilton. Work zones will shift as crews finish each section of roadway.

A pilot car will guide traffic through a single lane. People can expect increased travel times and should consider adding up to 15 minutes for trips.

Project background

This work is connected to a larger preservation project that began in June near Queets. When this section of paving is finished, crews will move to the last section of US 101 near New London. Work is expected to wrap up in October.
