Riyan Goetze cut the ribbon on her Box of Books endeavor last Saturday. The box built by her dad is on the trail behind the Forks Visitor Center. The idea is for people of all ages to take a book and/or leave a book.
The box has shingles on it that once were on the former Smokehouse restaurant and a special coin from Iceland is used as a washer for the knob. The whole thing is topped off with a good helping of moss.
Friends, family, teachers and police officers attended the ceremony. Riyan already is designing another small library for another location in town.
