Walter Furhman – July 30, 1928 – March 5, 2014

The Fuhrman family is sad to announce the passing of Walter R. Fuhrman of Forks.

Walt was born in Port Angeles on July 30, 1928, and spent his early years between Forks and Omak.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and is a veteran of the occupation of Germany.

He returned to Forks, where he remained for the rest of his life. In Forks, he married Adria Kaemmle, also of Forks, on May 20, 1958.

Walt was a logger for more than 40 years. Most of those years were spent loading log trucks, also known as “running shovel.” He was admired and respected for his knowledge of the logging industry.

He was a charter member of the Elks Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Forks, and was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, which he helped build.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and camping.

Walt will be remembered fondly for his unending supply of jokes and stories, which will be missed by so many.

He leaves behind his family, including his wife, Adria; son Rick; daughter Crystal Pierce; grandchildren Jayden, Taryn and Tristin Rampy; and numerous cousins, including the Anderson and Fletcher families.

Walt always left a big impression wherever he went and will remain in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held at Forks Assembly of God Church, 81 Huckleberry Lane, Forks, WA 98331, on Saturday, March 22, at 3 p.m.
