Janet died peacefully at Forks Community Hospital with her son David and daughter-in-law Hope by her side.

Janet was born in Seattle, Washington May 5th, 1945.

She was the second child and only daughter of Alvin and Mary Fletcher. Alvin, who was born and raised in Forks, returned to the area with his young family when Janet was about 8 years old.

Janet graduated from Forks High School in 1963 and went off to college at the University of Washington. She graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

She began her career as a Night Shift Emergency Room Nurse at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she met Ed, a Seattle Police Officer. They were married on March 8th, 1968 in Seattle and in March 1969 welcomed their son David who joined his half-brother, George.

Janet was a Nurse at Virginia Mason until Ed retired from the Seattle Police Department in 1972. She accepted a Director of Nursing position at Forks Community Hospital and the family moved to Forks.

Janet spent the rest of her nursing career at FCH where she eventually became the Assistant Administrator before retiring in 1987.

Janet and Ed enjoyed many years of traveling in their motorhome exploring the country. However, the call of nursing was still strong, and Janet eventually returned to Forks Community Hospital where she spent several years working as an O.R. Nurse until she retired for good. During this time Janet and her mother, Mary, traveled around the world together visiting Europe, Africa, and China.

Janet was continually active and enjoyed serving in our community, volunteering at Forks Food Bank for more than 10 years.

She was a Commissioner on the Forks Community Hospital Board of Directors and a proud member of Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rainforest and Red Hats, where she spent much of her time organizing and working on many projects benefiting the Forks community.

Janet was highly intelligent, talented and extremely kind and generous. She loved her family and friends, and they thought highly of her, often seeking her wise advice and opinion on a variety of matters. It was not uncommon for her to join her girlfriends in an impromptu road trip.

They shared many laughs and she had lots of crazy stories to tell upon her return.

She was a diehard Mariners fan, (“This is going to be their year”- every year!)A diehard Seahawks fan, (“They finally won one, I told you this was their year!”) and a diehard Husky football fan who enjoyed a healthy rivalry with ‘misguided’ friends and family members that were Cougar fans.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Ed, parents Alvin and Mary Fletcher, brother Craig Fletcher.

Janet is survived by her sons George Marion and David Marion.

Her daughter-in-Law Hope Marion, brother Rocky Fletcher, sister-in-Law Maureen Fletcher, nieces Heidi Anderson (Ron) and Alena Gimlin (Jason), nephews Scott Fletcher (Mila), David Fletcher (Avery), Michael Fletcher and Justin Fletcher and great-nephew Randall Anderson; Grandchildren Haley Marion (Alex), Max Marion, Simone Mastoris (Bobby), Ryan Root, Nicole Lichter (Kasey) and Melissa Lutterman (Neil).Great Grandchildren Elliot and Emily, Kairi and Aura, Ashlyn, Kaitlyn and Avani.

At Janet’s request, there will be no services.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for family & friends and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Janet Marion Nursing Scholarship in care of Soroptimist International of the Olympic Rainforest.
