A 1962 graduate of Forks High School, Rosmond earned his PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington in 1972. He dedicated 30 years as a research meteorologist with the Naval Research Laboratory’s Marine Meteorology Division in Monterey, California, followed by an additional decade as a contractor for the same organization. In 2004, he received the Fred E. Saalfeld Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement in Science for his contributions to the Naval Operational Global Atmospheric Prediction System.
