The Forks Congregational Church has been passing the Soup Pot during Worship Service since the early 2000s during the Super Bowl Sunday worship service. We take a collection of loose change people have gathered over the past year, plus monetary donations, and put it in a soup pot. We then count it up and call it into the Souper Bowl of Caring Website, where the national total is being kept. Then we turn in our proceeds to the local food bank. Since we started doing this our collection has grown every year. The Congregational Church took in $2,050 for last year’s offering to our local food bank.
This year, we are challenging other local churches to take up a collection during their Sunday Super Bowl Service, call it into the national website, and see how much money we can raise for our local Foodbank on Super Bowl Sunday.
If you don’t have a church and want to donate to this worthy cause, write a check or make a monetary donation to the local Food Bank. Or you can call or text Pastor Warren Johnson at 360-640-8239 for more information about this worthy cause on or before Feb. 8th to see how much money we can raise to STAMP OUT HUNGER.
