35th Annual Native Plant Sale Launches

The Clallam Conservation District’s 35th Annual Native Plant Sale is officially underway, with the Native Plant Sale Store now open to accept large bulk orders. Customers can place orders of 100 plants at a discounted price through Oct. 24, 2025.

For those interested in smaller bundles, the regular sale will begin November 1, offering plants in bundles of 5, 10, and 25.

Since the first sale in 1990, the event has distributed more than 492,000 plants to over 7,700 customers across the region. Organizers are excited to cross the half-million mark this year, furthering efforts to promote landscaping, restoration, and forestland planting with native species.

Why choose native plants?

Native plants have evolved over thousands of years to thrive in the region’s soils, climate, and ecosystems. They attract and sustain a wide variety of native wildlife, including pollinators and seed-dispersing birds, while also being naturally resistant to many local pests and diseases.

“Native plants simply fit,” organizers note. “They require less water, fertilizer, and maintenance than many non-native species, while providing vital habitat for local wildlife.”

Native plants are used in home landscaping, habitat restoration, and erosion control projects. However, deer browsing remains a challenge, and resources for protecting new plantings are available on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website.

Planting is straightforward: in most cases, no soil amendments are needed—just water. Mulching is recommended to help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds during establishment.

The Annual Native Plant Sale continues to be a community tradition, helping gardeners and landowners support the local environment—one plant at a time.
