Clam-digs were planned at Kalaloch.
This week, 50 years ago, the Forks Lions had purchased some downtown Christmas decorations, and a photo of one had appeared on the front page (photo). Terry and Vi Hinchen were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Glen Beckman was the new Ranger for the Soleduck District. It was Tom & Jerry Party time at the Vagabond. Someone had painted seagulls on the Mora Road …It was the Rawleys’ formerly of Seattle. They painted the birds on the road so friends could find their new place.
In 1968, FHS Home-Ec teacher Miss Carol Eichenlaub was starting an adult sewing class. In the Pay and Save weekly ad, canned chicken chow mein was 59¢, and shingle gloves were 49¢.
This week in 1953, the Evergreen Cafe was advertising they would be open on Christmas day, serving turkey and all the trimmings. The Forks PTA held a hobby show with over 100 exhibits.
In 1939, a body had washed up on the beach at Kalaloch. Tribes of the Olympic Peninsula were organizing against the expansion of the ONP coastal strip. In hospital news …J.E.L. James had suffered a stroke and was in the hospital. Charles Palmer had undergone an operation and was now back home.
