Bioluminescence …it’s a thing!

About this photo from Hole in the Wall Matt said, “This may be my favorite shot of the bioluminescence I have taken thus far. This shot took so much planning and patience, arriving before sunset, then waiting out the high tide to hike back at 3 a.m.… Everything lined up just right so that I got the shot with the glowing blue waves on only my second attempt. It was truly a spectacular night and worth every bit of the struggle to capture this iconic spot in a truly unique light. If you can’t tell I am obsessed with the “bio-blue.” Photos Matt Nichols

Matt also shared, “The bioluminescence could be such a blessing for our community, and our local economy!

The unique landscapes we have here in the Forks area on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, provide an excellent view of the incredible glowing blue waves.

That, along with our abundance in tidepools, makes Forks, in my opinion, one of the best places in the world, to witness this awesome natural phenomenon!”

This photo is at Ruby Beach. The bright yellow lights along the horizon in each photo are fishing boats.
