Clallam Bay Fire Department saves structure

Clallam County Fire District 5 – Clallam Bay Fire Chief Heather Quinones reported to the Forks Forum last week that she wanted to share a success her department recently had.

A call recently came in from a passerby for a chimney fire. The crew got to the scene and quickly discovered it was not a chimney fire but more involved. “So many times by the time we get all the volunteers to the station and get to the scene most structures are a loss,” Quinones said. But, this time the crew was able to knock the fire down and save the structure.

“I want to recognize my crew for the great job they did,” Quinones added. “It’s hard to get volunteers, it takes a lot of time, this was an amazing job they did.”

Quinones said the volunteers for District 5 come from all over the Clallam Bay area, as well as a few from the Clallam Bay Prison; and she could use a few more volunteers.

The crew was on scene for about 4 hours, “The crew did all the hard work, they deserve the Kudos,” Quinones said.
