Keira Johnson is a 7th grader whose proud parents are Willy and Laci Johnson. Her favorite subjects in school are Social Studies and PE, her favorite foods are steak or mac and cheese, and her favorite hobbies are running, playing basketball, and playing baseball. Her dream job is to become a nurse, and her goal this year is to get honor roll for all quarters. Keira is a kind, thoughtful person, and an organized, prepared, and helpful student who makes sure to check in when absent, asks questions when she needs clarification in class, and always turns in work that she is proud of. One teacher said, “Keira is a model student who comes to class and participates with a great attitude! I value her voice because she is a thoughtful thinker who puts tremendous effort into her answers. She is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. I really appreciate her sunny smile!” Another teacher said, “Keira is a great contributor to class discussions and projects; she is a student that stresses getting the job done and making everything correct. It is very evident how important school is to her, and her excellent efforts set a great tone for the work ethic in class.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Keira!

Kendall Marshall is a 7th grader whose proud parents are Heidi and Mike Marshall. Her favorite subjects in school are Social Studies and Language Arts, her favorite food is steak, and her favorite hobby is reading. Her dream job is to become an animal trainer, mainly training and fostering cats, and her goal this year is to get straight As. Teachers report that Keira is a responsible, careful, thoughtful, wonderful, and highly conscientious student who always comes to class prepared and ready to learn; she reviews her work before turning it in and advocates for herself with good questions. One teacher said, “Kendall is one of those people that engenders trust, patience, and loyalty in others; staff and students all recognize how nice she is, and you can see how her friends value and admire and protect her.” Another teacher said, “Kendall is a wonderful student with a bright, positive attitude. She is an enthusiastic and patient learner who always helps her elbow partner.” Congratulations, Kendall, for winning Student of the Month!

Payton Loushin is an 8th grader whose proud parents are Charlie and Holly Loushin. His favorite subjects in school are Science and History, and his dream job is to become a forester. His favorite things to do when he is not in school are playing games, watching videos, and spinning in an office chair. At school, Payton is a quiet, astute, attentive listener who takes pride in his schoolwork and always models the FJHS expectations: be safe, respectful, and responsible. One teacher said, “Payton sometimes surprises me in his work with extra information that he thinks I should know, or little captions that add humor and personal flair. Also, he never ignores a ‘see me’ on his papers- he always comes to talk about what he could do to improve. I am proud of his progress and his willingness to learn from mistakes.” Another teacher said, “Payton is always respectful, and you can always count on him to be doing the right thing! He is the perfect candidate for student of the month at Forks Junior High!” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Payton!

Riley Smith is an 8th grader whose parents are Kristi and Danny Smith. Her favorite subject in school is Math, and her favorite hobbies outside of school are doing cheer and art, and taking care of horses. Her dream job is to become a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon, her goal this year is to get on honor roll for all four quarters, and her favorite food is pork chops in mushroom soup with pasta. Staff at FJH report that Riley is a model student who works hard, asks great questions, and is fun in class! One teacher said, “Riley is the definition of perseverance. She is responsible for her own learning in a way that far exceeds her peers. She has a great sense of humor and her smile is contagious!” Another teacher said, “Riley is one of those students whose enthusiasm, kindness, and genuine drive to learn make the school-day better for everyone. She is both analytical and artistic, a mathematician as well as an artist and an athlete, and we can all learn about perseverance from her.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Riley!

Students of the Month are chosen by their teachers and honored with their parents at school for consistently displaying respect and responsibility for their behavior and academic achievement and always making good choices.
