FJHS February Students of the Month

Sarai Elena-Garcia is an 8th grader whose proud parents are Yolanda Garcia and Francisco Elena. Her favorite subject in school is Math, her favorite food is chicken tamales with green salsa, and her favorite thing to do outside of school is just being with her dog, Coco.

Her goal this year is to get all A’s, and her dream job is to become a vet. Staff at FJH report that Sarai is a respectful, studious learner and a great role model. One teacher said, “Sarai is an amazing, responsible student who takes accountability for her own learning. She is a good leader in group-work, and often shares thinking that is unique, thoughtful, and outside of the box.”

Another teacher said, “Sarai is one of those quiet leaders with an excellent moral compass and a deep work ethic. She’s careful in her calculations, as well as communications; you can tell she really cares about her contribution. She has the loveliest smile with the brightest eyes, and a fierce, unwavering intensity to do the right thing. She’s the kind of student that makes teachers want to be teachers. She’s one of those people that help steer the world in a better direction.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Sarai!

Macy Weakley is an 8th grader whose proud parents are Stephanie and Kyle Weakley. She loves Social Studies, video games, and reading; her goal this year is to make Honor Roll each quarter, and her dream job is to become a pathologist. One teacher said, “Macy is a quiet observer whose ideas really shine, especially in her amazing writing.

While she doesn’t always care to participate in discussions, she has a great sense of humor and can often add details that most students easily miss. She is wonderfully specific in explanations, and she always takes her time to make sure her work exceeds standards.” Another teacher said, “How to sum up Macy…. Macy is a cool girl, an old soul, a good friend, and an absolute hoot.

She has a depth beyond her years that results in fantastic humor, fearlessness to understand different people, and great taste in television shows. Poor Macy has to deal with me three times a day, but I really enjoy our conversations that start and then end my school-day. She makes everyone’s day a little better and definitely a lot more interesting.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Macy!

Annika Leverington is a 7th grader whose proud parents are Jen and Eric Leverington. She loves math and mashed potatoes, and she loves participating in R.O.V, softball, cross country, and fine arts. Her goal this year in school is to get a 4.0, and her dream job in the future to become a paleontologist.

Staff at FJH report that Annika is a friendly, helpful student and quiet leader who thinks uniquely, participates in discussions eloquently, helps others readily, and comes to each class determinedly. One teacher said, “Annika is a perfect example of a Student of the Month. She is reliable and friendly, and you can rely on her when it comes to her responsibilities as class treasurer.

It is wonderful to have her a 7th-grade class officer.” Another teacher said, “Annika consistently makes the most of class time; even if she finishes work early, she checks her work or asks about next steps, never idly waiting or goofing off. Her quiet, quirky sense of humor really makes me smile, she makes good choices about everything: academics, friendships, behavior, and it is clear that her success at FJHS will follow her into her adulthood.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Annika!

Eladia Hernandez-Stansbury is a 7th grader whose proud parents are Lucritia Stansbury and Gelacio Hernandez. Her favorite subjects in school are math and social studies, she loves playing volleyball, and her dream job is to become a college volleyball coach.

Eladia is an exemplary, extremely responsible student-athlete who always makes up work after an absence and comes to class prepared; she listens to constructive criticism and advice when solving problems, pushes herself to learn, and takes on new challenges valiantly. She is funny, quick to help others, kind, patient, and positive. One teacher said, “Eladia is an effervescent, boisterous leader with a great willingness to lend a hand without being asked. Her bubbly personality lights up a room.”

Another teacher said, “Eladia is a genuinely caring person who takes good care of her friends but also manages to care for so many of her peers and definitely all staff. I really appreciate her critical thinking and wisdom that seem to surpass a person of her young years. A student like her makes my day brighter.” Congratulations on winning Student of the Month, Eladia!
