FMS March Students of the Month

5th Grade:

Nathan Kerr was selected as the 5th-grade Student of the Month by FMS Staff. Nathan likes the color red, math, and playing soccer. Nathan’s favorite food is calamari, and his favorite animal is an anaconda. Nathan likes school because he knows it will help him get into a good college later in life. This year, Nathan’s goal is to get on the honor roll all 4 quarters. Nathan’s math teacher said, “Nathan is a dedicated student who consistently works to complete all assignments to the best of his ability. He demonstrates a genuine interest in learning and values the importance of a strong education. Nathan is a collaborative team member, making him an excellent partner for group work. He is also willing to take academic risks, embracing challenges even when outcomes are uncertain. But mostly, I enjoy working with Nathan because he laughs at my jokes.” Nathan’s music/band teacher reported, “Nathan Kerr is one of those students you can always count on to do the right thing! He is a good friend to others, he helps out whenever needed and strives to do well at all his endeavours.” Nathan’s social studies teacher noted, “Nathan is always polite and respectful. He reflects before he acts, helps his peers, and works well collaboratively. I enjoy having Nathan in class. He can be counted upon to always do the right thing.” Mrs. Leverington selected Nathan because, “Nathan exhibits kind and respectful behavior towards all people around him – students and staff alike. Nathan willingly takes risks academically and shares his thinking. He completes all his work thoughtfully and in a timely manner. Nathan brings his vast experience with fishing and gardening/farming to our classroom discussions, enriching all of our understanding of the topics. Great work, Nathan!”Nathan wants to thank his family for always supporting him. Congratulations, Nathan.

6th Grade:

Riggin Davis was chosen by many staff members to represent the 6th graders this month. Riggan’s favorites include the color blue, pizza, fish, and playing games. Riggin likes Intervention class this year. Riggin’s favorite thing about school is lunch time. This year Riggin is excited to go on the 6th grade field trip to the zoo so he can see the monkeys. Ms. Silva reported, “Riggin demonstrates a genuine desire to learn, and his enthusiasm for knowledge is truly contagious. He consistently approaches challenges with a positive attitude and strong determination, quickly grasping new concepts. Riggin is also highly engaged in interacting with his peers, always eager to greet others and foster a sense of community. We are incredibly proud of Riggin!” Mrs. Silcox commented, “Riggin has a great sense of humor and his memory is amazing!” Ms. Kearns said, “Whenever I see Riggin, he always says…You Matter Ms. Kearns! He is a kind and happy kid whenever I am around him. I have seen tremendous growth over the school year as he learns new things and practices his social interactions. YOU MATTER RIGGIN!” Ms. Hunley noted, :Riggin deserves student of the month for his hard work, amazing growth, incredible kindness, uplifting spirit and his ability to brighten even the toughest days. His kindness, silliness and daily Shrek quotes brings a smile to everyone around him and he has the most contagious laugh. I am so proud of Riggin and the growth he has made in the last two years. Way to go, Riggin!!!” One final teacher comment from Ms. Klebe, “Riggen is truly the light of our school, brightening every room with his warm and affectionate personality. This year, he has made incredible growth, showing determination and heart in everything he does. His positivity is contagious, and his peers are always eager to interact and spend time with him. Riggen’s presence makes our school a happier, more connected place for everyone.” Riggin would like to thank Ms. Klebe for supporting him. Thank you Riggin for everything you bring to FMS!!!

7th Grade:

Abedain Pablo Mendoza is Forks Middle School’s 7th grader selected for Student of the Month for March. Abedain likes the color green, his favorite animal is a dog, and his favorite food is pizza. This year his favorite subject is history. In his spare time, Abedain likes playing soccer. Abedain likes school because he gets to learn new things. This year he has set the goal to earn all As in his classes. Mrs. Johanson stated, “Abedain is respectful and kind. He is great about helping his friends with their work if they are struggling and asking clarifying questions on behalf of the class. He regularly is someone I can count on to be doing the right thing, regardless of what his peers are doing or if anyone is watching.” Abedain would like to thank his parents for always supporting him. Keep up the good work Abedain.

8th Grade:

February’s 8th-grade Student of the Month is Elsa Calmo Ramos. Elsa likes the color purple, dogs, and spaghetti. In her spare time Elsa likes to draw. Her favorite subject this year is her Career Technical Education Class (CTE) with Mr. Feasel. Elsa likes school because she gets to see her friends here. This year Elsa would like to earn As in all of her classes. Ms. Palmer reported, “Elsa is a joy to have in class. Over the past few years, I’ve watched her grow and mature into a conscientious, articulate, and witty young adult who genuinely cares about her learning. This year she has really demonstrated her own personal sense of responsibility, is setting higher expectations for herself, and is becoming more aware of what she is truly capable of. She is very deserving of this recognition. I’m very proud of you, Elsa.” Mrs. Echeita commented, “I have had the pleasure of knowing Elsa since she was in 5th grade. Elsa has always been a quiet leader. She demonstrates a great work ethic and is a role model for behavior. Her commitment to her education is appreciated by many.” Elsa would like to thank her mom and dad for supporting her. Way to go Elsa!
