February 23, 1936- March 20, 2025
Herminia “Minnie” Thornton went home to Jesus on March 20, 2025, at age 89 at her home in Sequim, Washington. Minnie was born to Ramon and Francisca Velazquez on February 23, 1936, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Minnie met her husband, Larry Thornton at a dance in Texas while he was in the military. They married on June 11, 1960, and moved to El Monte California. They went on to have four children Lorraine, Greeda, Loren, and Lana. She enjoyed cake decorating and sewing.
In 1972 the family moved to Baldwin Park, California. Where she engaged in contracting garments to be completed in her home hiring her friends and acquaintances. In 1977 the family moved to Forks, Washington where she supported her husband to start a business, Thornton Automotive.
In addition to being a dedicated wife of 57 years and loving mother. She was a shingle packer at a local shake mill and an interpreter for the Forks community serving the local court system, hospital and medical clinic.
Minnie loved music, cooking, dancing, traveling, and sewing. Her best quality was to laugh at herself. She also stayed actively involved at the Baptist Church. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Herminia joins her husband, Larry Thornton. Her parents, Ramon and Francisca, with all her siblings Antonio, Bernabe, Juan, Margarita, Juventino, Victor and Lucy in Heaven. She is survived by her children, Lorraine and her husband Charles Lee, Loren Thornton and Lana Tagen. Along with her grandchildren, Rachel, Charlie, Rick, Logan, Meagan, and Christopher. Sister-in-law Manuela Velazquez and children Elena, Lorena, Sandra, Nancy and Victor Jr., as well as other numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
