Clallam County Fire District #1 held its annual Awards Banquet Saturday evening, featuring a traditional push-in ceremony to welcome its newest addition — a brand-new ambulance that will be in service by the end of June.
The event also recognized outstanding team members for their service in 2024. Honorees included:
Firefighter of the Year: Leo Ponce
Officer of the Year: Mike Zavadlov
Top Responder: Ryan Anderson
Swift Water Rescue Technician of the Year: Chris Martin
Silliest Goose of the Year (for lifting spirits in tough times): Brett Pederson
The Forks Fire Department is proud to unveil a new ambulance that will be added to their three additional aid units. These vehicles will respond to 911 calls across the Clallam Fire District, supported by a dedicated volunteer crew. With typical response times of just 4–5 minutes, the department emphasizes its commitment to providing fast, life-saving care.
“Our crews are always ready, waiting in case you need us,” said a department spokesperson. “We’re excited to assist our fellow community members with our expanded aid fleet.”
The department’s skilled personnel are trained for everything from structure fires to technical rescues and now have expanded capabilities for medical transport and on-scene care.
