Supply Chain Glitch Hits Forks Outfitters After National Vendor Cyberattack

Store slowly recovering after major supplier disruption

Forks Outfitters experienced a significant supply chain disruption this past week, stemming from a cyberattack on its primary supplier, United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI), a national company that distributes grocery, meat, deli, and dairy items.

UNFI, a $28 billion company operating 48 warehouses across the country, was forced to shut down its computer systems around June 6 after the breach was discovered. That shutdown led to delays in order processing and fulfillment for many of its clients, including Forks Outfitters.

Owner Bruce Paul shared that the store just received a shipment this morning (Monday), the result of a handwritten order placed last week. “We’re still receiving items from our secondary suppliers,” he said, “but this has absolutely slowed things down.”

Paul apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized the store’s commitment to the community: “Supplying our community is very important to us. We’re very sorry for the disruption this has caused our customers.”

Forks Outfitters is continuing to monitor the situation and will return to full inventory as soon as possible.
