Forks High School Teacher wins SAR History Teacher of the Year Award

Mrs. Tammy French, a history teacher at Forks High School, was honored recently as the John Paul Jones Chapter, Washington Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) History Teacher of the Year – 2022.

The award is the first stage of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution-sponsored Dr. Tom and Betty Lawrence American History Teacher of the Year award.

During a celebration of President’s Day and observance of the 291st anniversary of the birth of General George Washington held Saturday the 18th of February at the George Washington Inn in Port Angeles, WA, Mrs. French was presented with a SAR Certificate of Commendation and a monetary honorarium. Making the presentations were John Paul Jones Chapter, SAR President Perry Taylor, and Education Committee Chair/Color Guard Captain Fred Gilbert. The Chapter is located in Bremerton, WA.

Mrs. French was accompanied by her husband, Woody, and daughter, Macie. Tammy and her family reside in Sequim, WA.

In addition to winning the local SAR chapter award, her entry was forwarded to the state-level competition of the Washington Society SAR where she, again, took first place! Mrs. French will be honored at the Washington Society SAR annual conference in Spokane in April. As the state winner, her packet has been entered at the national level competition of the National Society SAR at their headquarters in Louisville, KY.
