The Forks Lions Club presented the Fiends of Forks Library a check for $4,500 on Tuesday, January 15. The funds came from a successful fund-raiser which earned the club over $9,000. Lion John Calhoun is shown presenting the check to librarians Rebecca Barker (left) and Christine Stallman. The club decided to split the proceeds evenly between the Library fund and their scholarship fund. Calhoun said 22 club members put in about 200 man hours of work on a miserable rainy day, clearing trees from duplex structures owned by Forks Abuse Program located in the Sherwood Forest subdivision. Lion Ken Bechtold chaired the project and directed the work. Lion Sam Dunn did the expert falling and Lion Dean Hurn marketed the logs. Jerry’s Small Engine and Rental contributed the use of a chipper.
