Mielke told the WEBPA members he was interested in what “we want from the county.”

After the WEBPA meeting, Fleck served as tour guide as Mielke met with community members at the In Place and then went on to the Forks Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Center.

He had a walkabout at the ONRC and visited with staff at the facility; driving tour of a portion of Forks and back to City Hall; met with District Court II Judge and staff and had a meet/greet/discussion; City Hall tour and tour of building/jail: Forks Community Hospital to meet with Heidi Anderson and her team; and stops at the Forks Forum, Peninsula College, and QVSD and a few other drop-ins.

Mielke previously served as a Spokane County Commissioner from 2004-2016 and was the chief administrative officer for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department.

Since 2018, Clallam County Human Resources Director Rich Sill has served as the interim county administrator

The role of the county administrator is to oversee multiple departments and services, such as handling all of the contracts with department heads and deputy directors.

Clallam County commissioners chose to offer a three-year contract to Mielke, noting it allows the commissioners the opportunity to address any political changes ahead of election years and also address salary changes.

His starting salary will be $195,316 per year.
