Ukulele Workshop with Rose Oyamo

The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) in partnership with the Juan de Fuca Foundation for the Arts (JFFA) present: Bring Your Own Ukulele – Tips and Tricks on How to Get Started, Featuring Ukulele Storytime’s Rose Oyamot. The workshop will be held live on Monday, May 31 at noon on NOLS’ YouTube and Facebook.

Learn ukulele basics and gain confidence playing ukulele with YouTube sensation singer/songwriter Rose Oyamot! This free workshop will include tuning your instrument, holding position, beginner strum patterns, and an introduction to the “three magic chords” which can be used on a multitude of songs. After the workshop, Rose will be available to answer questions. The class is geared towards participants ages 8 and up.

The interactive workshop will be offered through the North Olympic Library’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Although ukuleles will not be provided for the event, the library does have a limited number of ukuleles and other instruments available for checkout; place a hold at nols.org/nols-gear.

Rose Oyamot is a longtime singer/songwriter and musician who is thrilled to combine her musical background with her career as a Children’s Library Specialist in Minnesota. Rose has had the joy of connecting with libraries, educators, children, and families worldwide with her music program, Ukulele Storytime, both in person and virtually. Ukulele Storytime started as a one-stop site on YouTube to learn songs on ukulele for Children’s Storytimes.
