United Way Day of Caring scheduled for September 8

Forks and Clallam Bay/Sekiu projects listed

United Way of Clallam County has been arranging community volunteer opportunities for many years as part of the beginning of the United Way annual fund drive.  This year, all volunteer opportunities will be on Saturday, September 8.  Patrick Downie has been the 2012 United Way volunteer coordinator for activities and volunteer groups for this event.  “I have a goal of getting 1,000 Helping Hands out working in our county,” says Downie.  Companies are gathering a corps of volunteers and adopting projects for a great team building opportunity; church groups, community volunteers and especially families are welcome to join in the fun.

There are more than 25 projects currently scheduled throughout the county. West End Day of Caring projects include the Forks Housing Authority’s  concrete sidewalk project at Peninsula Apartments on Saturday, Sept. 8, and a beach clean up at Clallam Bay and Sekiu scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1, with a focus on removing tsunami debris that’s beginning to arrive on the Strait of Juan de Fuca beaches.

If you, your work group or your family would like to volunteer, please call United Way at 457-3011 or just come to the particular projects in the morning on September 8.
