Upper Hoh Road Construction Update

Construction Activities and Upcoming Work

This week, Interwest Construction Inc. (ICI) will resume the mobilization of equipment and setting up temporary traffic control devices in preparation to start work for the 2023 construction season on Upper Hoh Road. The first location of work will be at MP 7.8, near the Tower Creek Bridge (built summer 2022).

This work will consist of constructing a Soil Nail Retaining Wall to stabilize a steep slope at that location. The work zone will require a temporary traffic signal, which will be installed this week. The following week, on the Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday, work will start on the construction of the Soil Nail Retaining Wall itself.

Impacts to Traffic

• Travelers can expect Temporary Traffic Control Flaggers or Signals at MP 7.8 of Upper Hoh Rd for the wall construction

• Expect delays up to a total of 30 minutes per passage through the project corridor during weekdays 8AM-5PM, and minimal delays at the signals during non-working hours.

• Olympic National Park and businesses along Upper Hoh Road will remain accessible at all times during construction.
