Upper Hoh Road Project

Construction Activities and Upcoming Work

Last week, Interwest Construction, Inc. (ICI) striped the roadway at the MP 4 Engineered Log Jams (ELJs) and the MP 7.8 Tower Creek site, installed a guardrail at the Tower Creek bridge, and hydro seeded at MP 4 and MP 7.8.

The hydroseeding is applied in two applications: first, the soil, fertilizer, and seed mixture; and second, the green-colored Bonded Fiber Matrix mulch to seal the first application to the slopes.

Over the coming weeks, ICI will install rolled erosion control blankets on the seeded slopes at the MP 4 ELJs and MP 7.8 Tower Creek sites, and will prepare to start willow pole plantings at the ELJs.

Impacts to Traffic

• Travelers can expect Temporary Traffic Control Flaggers and/or signals at MP 4 of Upper Hoh Rd for ELJ site cleanup and at MP 7.8 for the Tower Creek Bridge.

• Expect delays up to a total of 30 minutes per passage through the project corridor Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Olympic National Park and businesses along Upper Hoh Road will remain accessible at all times during construction.
