Donna Jean Hammel

April 13, 1960 – February 1, 2018

Donna Jean passed away suddenly of cancer on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, leaving a hole in the hearts of those who loved her.

She was born April 13, 1960, at St. Johns Hospital in Port Townsend to Donald E. Anderson and Earlene Joyce (Edgecomb)Anderson.

She moved to Forks with her family at a young age where she attended school. Donna was active in sports, playing basketball and baseball in Junior and Senior High School. She really enjoyed her time as a cheerleader and was proud to be voted queen of the 4th of July Celebration in 1977.

After high school, she moved to Port Angeles where she met her “forever” husband, Martin and started their family, daughter, Linsey, and son, Rory. They moved to Kitsap County where their daughter Sarah was born. Donna was a homemaker who also worked at various places including Thriftymart in Forks, Fred Meyer and Christopher Banks in the Kitsap area,

Donna loved the “service” part of her job the most. Helping “her customers” was so important to her. Donna was the most loving, caring, and positive person. She had a beautiful smile and a wink for everyone she met! Most recently Donna worked at Lower Elwha Food and Fuel and forged many new friendships there.

Of all her accomplishments, Donna was most proud of her children and adored her grandbabies Lincoln and Sawyer. Donna was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her father, her husband, her children, and brother Jeff. She leaves behind many other family members too numerous to name. Donna loved all her “families”.

She was full of love and joy and loved the simple things in life. She will be missed more than words can say. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
