Gary Alan Slyter (Crunch) passed away Aug. 6, 2018. He was born Feb. 7, 1940 to Rollia and Mary Slyter in Minneapolis, MN. Gary lived for a time in Tacoma before moving to Forks in the 1970s.
He went to work for Allen Logging Co, where he continued working for 36 years, until his retirement. During this time he met the love of his life, Barbara Damon, in 1979 and they married in 1982. They remained together until Barb’s passing in 2014.
Gary was an active “Life Member” and leader at the Forks Elks Lodge. He held many positions and considered its members his extended family. If Gary wasn’t home, just go to the Elks Club and he was usually there, setting up for Bingo or working on some project, or other. The Lodge and its members meant a lot to Gary!
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barb. He is survived by three sons; Lance Slyter, Tim and Ted Rasmussen and daughter Brenda Palmer as well as 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
