Larry Gene Thornton

Larry Gene Thornton, 79, has begun his journey with our Lord on September 24, 2017.

Born and raised in Aberdeen WA, he graduated with the class of 1957 from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen and enlisted in the army. He was stationed in Texas and honorably discharged. In 1960 he married the love of his life.

They moved to California where he took night classes and received his degrees in Mechanics in 1965. He was a high school teacher at Chino High School in Chino, CA and also was an instructor at Los Angeles Trade Tech.

In 1978 he opened Thornton’s Automotive Repair. He had been very involved in the community and made Forks his home. He had many hobbies, including ham radio, and for a period had his own radio show program on Forks Radio 1490 interviewing people of interest.

He was preceded in death by his father Lester Gene Thornton and mother Vella Phae Jones.

He is survived by his wife Herminia (Minnie), three daughters Mrs. Charles Lee, Greeda Richardson, Mrs. Robert Tagan, and one son Loren Gene. He had six grandchildren: Rachel Ringer, Charlie Lee, Richard Lee, Logan Thornton, Meagan Myers and Christopher Frieboes. He had three great-grandchildren

Stephen Casey, Perry Ringer and Camron Lee Holcomb; and countless nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m., officiated at Forks Assembly of God in partnership with Misión Bautista Hispana De Forks, 81 Huckleberry Lane, Forks WA 98331; reception to follow. Share a comment or picture at www.edwardsmemorial.com
