Scott Wasankari

December 17, 1969 – October 17, 2021

Sanford Scott Wasankari peacefully passed away at the age of 51 on October 17, 2021, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska.

Scott was born December 17, 1969, to Dave and Sue Wasankari in Port Angeles, Washington.

Raised in Forks, Washington, Scott was a fun and loving young man often fishing and hunting with his brothers and cousins. He spent hours working in the woods with his father and later grew a passion for working on trucks.

Scott’s love for working as a heavy equipment mechanic led to his move to Alaska where he spent the last 25 years working on heavy equipment at mines, logging, and general construction sites.

He was known for his hard work and dependability.

Scott was blessed to develop a loving relationship with Janelle Hoffman where they shared a beautiful daughter Sierra, and devoted son Dahlton. Scott would later marry Kristal Wilson where they shared a wonderful and loving daughter Trinity.

Scott was a deeply loving and devoted father to his three treasured children Sierra, Dahlton and Trinity. He often spent hours on Alaska lakes and rivers camping, fishing, and telling outrageous fictional stories to his children, leaving memories that will last forever.

Scott is survived by his mother Sue Wasankari, sister Julie Wasankari-Decker, brothers Nick and David P. Wasankari, son Dahlton Wasankari, daughters Sierra and Trinity Wasankari, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and his faithful dog Ammo.

Scott is preceded in death by his father Dave F. Wasankari.

There will be a celebration of life at the Forks Assembly of God Church on Saturday, November 6 at 12:30 p.m. with a potluck following.
