Steve Nelson

A Remembrance of Life for Steve Nelson, 62, will be held at Vashon Island Sportsmans Club at 2 p.m. November 25. A 25-year resident of the Forks area, he died October 20 suffering from spinal neuropathy and congestive heart failure.

Steven went to Vashon schools, and began working at the family newspaper, The Vashon-Maury Island Beachcomber, as a young teenager, pursuing his lifetime passions of hunting and fishing. He learned the printing trade from his father, Carl, and was a member of the International Typographical Union.

When his father purchased Bremerton Printing, he commuted from Vashon and later moved to Port Orchard and worked in the back shop of his father’s new business. In 1992, he moved to Crescent Lake and then Forks, working the rest of his career at Olympic Graphic Arts. He was predeceased by his father, who died in 2011.

Surviving are a son Trevor and daughter Corinne, his mother Nancy Wright of Burien, step mother Hazel Nelson of Vashon, sister Chris Hellberg of Federal Way and brother Eric and wife Lori Nelson of Vashon; five grandchildren Dillon, River, Bailee, Gabrielle and Isabelle, their grandmother Ginger; step-daughters Melissa Brown and Heather Ingersoll and their mother Diane Nelson of Forks.
