Walter F. Jackson

Walter Frank Jackson, age 70, an enrolled member of the Quileute Indian Nation, died on February 26, 2018, at Auburn Multi Care Center in Auburn, Washington. Mr. Jackson was born on March 14, 1947, in Forks, Washington to Oliver and Charlotte (Cooper) Jackson. He was raised in La Push and graduated from Forks High School in 1966. He then graduated from the Haskell Indian Nations College in Lawrence, Kansas and worked for 5 years at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington DC.

He returned to La Push where he served on the Quileute Tribal Council, Executive Director of the Quileute Nation, Enterprise Board Manager and was Chairman of the National Congress of American Indians.

A candlelight service will be at 7 p.m., on Friday, March 2, 2018 and an Indian Shaker service following on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at the Akalat Center in La Push.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
