Why masks?

Dear Editor,

Why masks? I’ll tell you why.

I have a friend with four children who were taken by the ex-spouse to an ‘Evangelical Reaffirmation Party’ during their visit. Three of the children wore masks, while the fourth did not. Most of the attendees did not wear masks.

The fourth child has COVID-19 which, when returning home and mask-less, spread it to the parent and two siblings.

Now comes the hard part: Two of their elderly relatives spent time with those children upon their return; one of them is already in extremely frail health because of cancer.

Why wear a mask? Because your rights end where your ignorance and inaction endangers another’s health, and we’re going into another lockdown because of it.
