Quileute Days action … Softball, horseshoes, and canoes

Competing in the Quileute Days Canoe Races were Darren Sansom, Pete Kalama, Fredie Kalama, Vincent Buckle, and Todd Pickernell.

Darren Sansom, in the canoe Ste’Wetan/Lummi Nation, racing for the first time this season, won the first heat and the final. Seventy-year-old Pete Kalama racing in the canoe Misty Rain won both his heats and placed second in the final round, followed by Fredie Kalamain the Redwing and Vincent Buckle racing the Valerie, Darren Sansom and Todd Pickernell in the Norm Sr. canoe.

Todd Pickernell had electrical issues but came back to win both his heats and the final on the second day of racing, keeping his points lead over Pete Kalama who placed third in the final.
