This week in 1999 the Forks Lions Club had named Marcia Bingham as their Citizen of the Year. Brownie Troop 1301 received badges of completion and their photo in the paper (photo). Lindsey Poole was heading to Europe to compete as part of a National USA Track and Field Team.

Fifty years ago this week George and Kate Campbell had been selected as the Grand Marshals for the 4th of July Grand Parade (photo). It was being asked at City Council “Why is the new stoplight up so high?” The answer from Town Marshal Bryson was … “So it is above the loaded log trucks.” Charlie the Clown (Emily Barker) had won a trophy at the Western Days parade in Rainier. Gene Coats’ letter to the Governor had been reprinted in the paper …in it he asked …Why the Advisory Board for the Forest Practices Act had no timber industry representation.

In the La Push news section in 1952, it was reported that Mrs. Minnie Eastman had driven Donna Mae Woodruff to Seattle where she caught a train for Idaho. Ron Konopaski had completed his freshman year at UW. Donna Sexton, Donna Maxfield, and Richard Kallman had attended 4-H camp in Pullman.
