This week in 2000 under the heading “It’s a small world,” as a class project, FHS student Ashley Ford and classmates had written letters to people serving in the military. Amazingly Ashley’s letter found its way to Adam Schmid, a FHS 1997 grad, who was on duty in the Persian Gulf. She had taken the letter to show Adam’s dad Joe, who worked at Pay & Save (photo). Sean and Hilary Norbisrath were celebrating their first anniversary. Mary Ulin and Sande Strom had tied with the winning guess in the Senior Parents Barrel Float Fundraiser. The barrel had made it down the Calawah River in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 3 seconds. Some of the Elks Hoop shoot winners, Amber Guckenberg and Diamond Muller, were recognized for their efforts in a photo (photo).

1975 No Edition …skipping ahead to this week in 1977 there had been a shoot out on main street after two out of towners got upset about not getting served at Art’s Place. One of them died another was wounded!

This week in 1953 the United Good Neighbor Drive had gotten underway with Mrs. Orville Ninke as Chairman. Fundraising was going well. (In the olden days, if you were in the hospital it was in the paper) In the “In the Hospital this week” column, Pamela Cline had, had her tonsils removed. Glen and Les Roarke had been hospitalized after a car accident near the Mill Creek Bridge.
