This week in 2000 a letter to the editor blamed the lack of clams at Kalaloch on Sasquatch, and demanded that he/she/them be ticketed for harvesting them all, most likely without the proper license(s). The writer demanded an answer from WDFW. The engagement of Jessica Wonsey and Titus Hurley was announced (photo). Olivia Otto had dressed as Tigger in the Clallam Bay-Sekiu Fun Days parade (photo). The FHS FCCLA group had won 20 gold medals at the National competition in Orlando, Florida (photo).

This week in 1975 the Forks Fire Department was requesting repairs/replacement on worn out equipment, as well as repairs on the fire hall. Rotting doors and more were discussed, a new building or an addition to the old building was needed. The Forks Police department was also asking for a new patrol car. In the Help Wanted section employers were looking for a projectionist at the Olympic Theater, eight shake/shingle sawyers, four shake packers, a shovel operator, and a rock drill operator.

In 1953 it was reported that Elmer Fraker and Ellsworth Whitehead narrowly escaped drowning when their 14 foot boat had overturned in high waves at the mouth of the Quillayute River. Fog had hindered their rescue. The Far West Motel had opened for business, six units were ready for guests and six more units were planned, an open house was being planned. Jacqueline Hamilton had wed Pvt. John Kilmer.
