FMS September Students of the Month

5th Grade: Alex Echeita
The FMS September Student of the Month for 5th grade is Alex Echeita. Alex’s favorites include; cookie dough ice cream, the color cyan, science, playing video games, and great hammerhead sharks. When asked why Alex was chosen to be student of the month, Alex’s ELA teacher, Ms. Lewis said “Alex consistently shows respect to his teachers, classmates, and follows the school expectations. He uses polite language and treats others with kindness.”
His PE teacher, Mrs. Highfield said “Alex Echeita goes above and beyond to follow expectations. He will work outside of his comfort zone. When asked for help, he is dependable and positive.”
His Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Camacho-Carver said “Alex is a thoughtful learner who thinks deeply about problems and solutions and perseveres. Although he is academically a cut above, he is patient and kind with his classmates that need a little extra help getting there. He is polite and courteous, respectful and fun. I enjoy having him in Social Studies.”
Ms. Streutker, his math teacher, said “Alex is worthy of being the Student of Month as he consistently demonstrates responsibility, respect, and safe behavior. I’ve enjoyed getting to know him this year.. It is wonderful to have a student that is as patient and kind as him. He has high expectations and is self-motivated to do well on all tasks. His contributions to class discussions are helpful and positive. I am lucky to have him as my student.” Alex’s band and music teacher, Mrs. Murillo added “Character traits I admire about Alex Echeita are honesty, integrity, respectfulness, responsibility and that he is very self motivated to succeed and produce quality work.” Alex would like to thank his mom, dad, brother, grandma, teachers, and his friends for supporting him. Way to go, Alex!
6th Grade: Nathan Kerr
The FMS September Student of the month for 6th grade is Nathan Kerr. Nathan’s favorites include; calamari, the color red, math, fishing, and green anacondas. When asked why Nathan was chosen to be student of the month, Nathan’s social studies teacher, Mrs. Echeita said “Nathan Kerr is always engaged and completing work to the best of his ability. I appreciate his passion for learning that comes across no matter what we are doing. Nathan showed great leadership skills with his peers during Nature Bridge. He was able to influence others to engage in the learning process and help them stay focused. Nathan is also always displaying positive behavior and following expectations. I mean ALWAYS. I often turn to him in class to share a look of “Did they really just ask that?” His shared humor in class has made me so grateful to have in my class. Thank you Nathan for being amazing in so many ways.”
Nathan’s PE teacher, Mrs. Highfield added “Nathan Kerr deserves to be student of the month because he shows great positive leadership skills. He follows expectations even if others are not.” His science teacher, Ms. Kearns said “Nathan is kind and always looks out for everyone. In science, he comes up with big, creative ideas that make us stop and think — I love hearing what’s on his mind! His friends say he’s an awesome hunter, a star on the soccer field, super smart, and the kind of friend everyone wants to have.”
His band and music teacher, Mrs. Sanger said “Nathan is a wonderful student to have in class. In both band and music he is enthusiastic about learning. Even when things get tough, he pushes through. Nathan is both a leader and a follower. If someone needs help, he is there. If he doesn’t know something, he takes guidance from others.” Lastly, Ms. Klebe, Nathan’s ELA teacher said “Nathan is an all-around awesome student! He’s kind, hardworking, and always gives 100% in everything he does. Whether it’s tackling a tough assignment, helping a classmate, or sharing a great idea during class discussions, Nathan brings his best attitude and effort. His dedication and kindness make him a true role model for his peers. I am proud to have Nathan represent Forks Middle School as our Student of the Month.” Nathan would like to thank his parents for supporting him. Well done, Nathan!
7th Grade: Norah Enges
The FMS September Student of the month for 7th grade is Norah Enges. Norah’s favorites include; salad and anything spicy, U.S. History, surfing, art projects, and the colors moss green and honey brown. She also likes snakes, moths, and all types of sharks. When she grows up, Norah wants to be a forensic scientist or a detective and solve crime.
When asked why Norah was chosen to be student of the month, Norah’s social studies teacher, Miss Gingrich, said “Norah is always prepared for class and participates fully in all activities. She is kind and extremely helpful to other students, and goes above and beyond on her assignments.”
Her PE teacher, Mrs. Highfield added “Norah Enges deserves student of the month because she is consistent with her efforts and engagement. She follows expectations and completes her work without any hesitation. Norah’s work ethic goes above and beyond.”
Norah’s ELA teacher, Mrs. Johanson said, “Norah is consistently doing the right thing and looking for opportunities to help others. If she finishes her work early she will draw awesome artwork on the page and remain super respectful while others finish their work. She is trustworthy, honest, kind, and an all-around great student.” Norah would like to thank her parents, friends, and teachers for supporting her. Way to go, Norah!
8th Grade: Cricket Hammer
The FMS September Student of the month for 8th grade is Cricket Hammer. Cricket’s favorites include; Reese’s Pieces, the colors black, blue, and red, CTE class, drawing, and bobcats. When she grows up she wants to be a cartoonist or animator. When asked why Cricket was chosen for student of the month, Cricket’s CTE teacher, Mr. Fease,l said “Cricket is an ambitious and dedicated student who pushes herself to succeed in the classroom. Not only does she take pride in doing consistently high quality work, but she also makes an effort to help & support her classmates if they are stuck on an assignment or problem.
She is a reliable source of positive energy in the classroom and is a great role model and example for other students.” Her PE teacher, Mrs. Highfield added “Cricket Hammer follows directions and completes the work even when it is outside of her comfort zone. She is always positive and speaks up for other students. She goes out of her way to help others.” Mr. Burton, her Humanities teacher said “Cricket is always friendly and respectful; she always greets me and we have a little conversation, even if for a few seconds before class starts.
She always does high quality work and is engaged in class, whether it’s a discussion, another student is talking, or she’s working independently.” Her math teacher, Mrs. Rogers added “Cricket works very hard in algebra and does a great job of showing her work. She is very polite and courteous and participates often in class. She is a great student to have!” Her science teacher, Mrs. Cook said “Cricket is very interested and engaged in what we are learning in Science. She has a lot of interesting and original ideas and isn’t afraid to share them! She is kind and hardworking, and she puts her learning first. She completes her work with effort and always asks for help when she needs it.”
Lastly, her band teacher said, “Cricket is a hoot to have in band. She is very passionate about playing the clarinet and it makes my band director’s heart happy to hear and see that. She perseveres, even though there might be some grumbling along the way. Cricket is also a quiet leader with helping others in her section, but is becoming more of an outspoken leader. Super proud of the person that she is becoming.” Cricket would like to thank her parents for supporting her. Well done, Cricket!
