The first Congregational Church once stood at the corner of what is now Calawah Way and Merchant Rd. The land was donated by Martha Merchant Maybury. She was one of the founders of the church.

The first Congregational Church once stood at the corner of what is now Calawah Way and Merchant Rd. The land was donated by Martha Merchant Maybury. She was one of the founders of the church.
The church was later moved, in the 1920s, to near downtown Forks on W. Division Street, onto property donated by the Ackerlys. It was remodeled a number of times over the years.
In 1942 this was the view of the inside of the church.

The West End Historical Society met on Tuesday Oct. 21. The presentation that was planned, by Coast Guard Station Quillayute River was unable to happen due to the government shut down, so instead pastor Warren Johnson shared the history of the Congregational Church.
