Supporting NOLS Levy Lift

Published 1:30 am Thursday, April 9, 2026

Dear Editor,

What is the price of a good book; one that can take us anywhere in this world or on to another? What is the price of a good book; one that can show us things we never knew existed? What is the price of a place to go where you are known, you are special, you are valued, where you are part of a special family?

Your library is such a place. It is there just for you. It is the place of books, friendly faces, learning, and so much more. I support our libraries, the treasures of our communities. I hope you do, too. On April 28th please show your support and Vote YES on the upcoming library levy lid lift.

Dear Editor,

Books! Physical books! Why? Literacy begins at birth. By the time a child begins kindergarten, having listened to 1,000 books will put them on the path of success in school. Their success in school develops by listening to someone read books, looking at and talking about the pictures, holding the physical book.

The child connects with the object and the secrets held within. Curiosity, amazement, sharing, learning and more come from physical books. Borrow FREE books from your library and ensure that children you know have the opportunity to succeed. Take a child to the library’s quiet, calm space for story time or have fun together looking for another book.

Our FREE libraries need your help. Please Vote YES on April 28th to approve the library levy lid lift. Our children need and deserve your library services to be prepared for their future success in school and in life.
