Seegers Reaffirms Common-Sense Priorities in District 3 Commissioner Race

Clallam County Commissioner candidate Jake Seegers is welcoming the growing field in the District 3 race, offering a respectful and forward-looking message as Mike French joins the contest.

“Mike cares deeply about this community and his family,” Seegers said. “I appreciate his willingness to consistently step forward and engage with the public. That kind of commitment is important for Clallam County.”

While acknowledging differences in policy approach, Seegers emphasized that his campaign will remain focused on common-sense leadership centered on four core priorities: public safety, economic development, affordability, and fiscal responsibility.

“Public safety is the foundation for everything else,” Seegers said. “We need to support effective law enforcement, create real pathways from addiction to recovery, and move people from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Most importantly, we need measurable outcomes that restore clean public spaces and a renewed sense of safety for our communities.”

Seegers noted that economic growth follows confidence in a community’s stability and leadership.

“If we want to attract high-quality employers, we have to create an environment where businesses feel safe investing,” he said. “That means streamlined permitting, workforce development, safe business districts, and a local government culture that solves problems instead of creating them.”

On affordability, Seegers pointed to structural barriers that continue to limit housing availability.

“We have to reduce unnecessary permitting barriers and fees, challenge costly mandates, and support local solutions that expand housing opportunities for working families,” he said. “People who grow up here should be able to afford to stay here.”

Drawing on his professional background, Seegers framed fiscal responsibility as a guiding principle for every decision.

“Every public expense should be tested with two questions: Is it essential? Is it effective?” he said. “With my background in finance and real estate, I’ve reviewed hundreds of balance sheets and financial models. I will bring that same discipline to county government—protecting taxpayers, demanding accountability, and working to grow revenue through economic growth, not higher taxes.”

Seegers also spoke personally about his connection to Clallam County and the future he hopes to help shape.

“Amy and I chose to raise our children here so that they could grow up spending time outside and because this is a place where neighbors show up for one another,” he said. “We want our kids—and someday our grandkids—to have the opportunity to stay or return to a safe community that holds to its values, rewards hard work and leaves room to dream big. That’s a future worth fighting for.”
