American Legion Post 106 Announces Scholarship Recipients, Memorial Day Service and Upcoming Events

The members of American Legion Post 106 are proud to announce the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards.
Receiving the $1,500 scholarship is Skye Hestand. Recipients of the $1,000 scholarships are Nicole Gaydeski and Kareena Nandial.
“Congratulations to these great scholars and best wishes on your continued education. We are glad that we can contribute to your success!”
In a new announcement category, community members are invited to join the members of American Legion Post 106 for the annual Memorial Day Service to be held May 25 at 11 a.m. at Forks Cemetery.
“As our country approaches its 250th birthday, we have a lot to be thankful for.”
Post members said they look forward to having the community join them for the service honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Members of American Legion Post 106 also continue selling tickets for their annual fundraiser, a $1,500 shopping spree at Outfitters. Community members can watch for Legion members selling raffle tickets at Outfitters on Saturday, May 16.
In other related news, the Wall That Heals will be in Lacey, WA, on June 25-28, 2026. It will be open to the public 24 hours a day and free to all visitors. The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C., and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point and 375 feet long.
Established by the Vietnam Veterans Fund in 1996, this replica and its 53-foot Education Center have traveled to over 800 cities honoring the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, and bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
