La Push Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash on U.S. Highway 101 Near Forks

A 66-year-old La Push man was injured Sunday afternoon following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 101 south of Forks.
According to a collision report from the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:09 p.m. on May 24 near milepost 189, south of Forks.
Investigators said the rider was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when he lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway. The motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder.
The driver, identified as Dean A. Penn, 66, of La Push, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported by aid personnel to Forks Community Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries was not immediately released.
Authorities reported Penn was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmet at the time of the collision.
The motorcycle, described as a black 2009 Harley-Davidson, was totaled in the crash and later removed from the scene by a towing company from Port Angeles.
No other vehicles were involved, and no fatalities were reported.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials had not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
