Sheriff’s Deputies Make Arrest

On Feb. 20, 2023, at about 9:46 p.m., a Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting a routine traffic emphasis on Highway 101 between Sequim and Port Angeles.

The Deputy observed a black SUV pass his location while parked at the intersection of N. Barr Rd. and Hwy 101 and saw the vehicle did not have a rear license plate. The Deputy also observed the vehicle was speeding.

The Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1500 block of Atterberry Rd., Sequim. He contacted the driver of the vehicle, 39-year-old Port Angeles resident, Christopher J. Dorrell and passenger, 50-year-old Forks resident, Simone R. Nelson.

Dorrell was arrested for driving with no valid operator’s license.

Upon further investigation, Deputies determined the vehicle belonged to Simone R. Nelson.

Deputies observed a glass smoking device, commonly used for smoking controlled substances, in open view in a cup holder within arm’s reach of Nelson. Nelson was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. When she exited the vehicle she was carrying a black bag which Deputies searched incident to her arrest.

Deputies located a digital scale along with several individually packaged suspected fentanyl pills (totaling over 300 pills), 6.98 grams of suspected cocaine, 1.55 grams of suspected heroin, 1.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine and three other types of unidentified pills.

Nelson was transported to the Clallam County Jail where she was booked into custody for 4 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
