City of Forks Requests Voluntary Water Conservation Amid Dry Summer

Published 1:30 am Thursday, July 17, 2025

Forks, WA – July 9, 2025 — In response to an unusually dry summer, the City of Forks is asking residents connected to the municipal water system to voluntarily reduce their water use to help preserve the city’s supply.

According to a press release issued by the city, Forks relies on deep underground wells for its water, and the prolonged dry weather has caused well levels to drop steadily. As a precaution, officials are encouraging residents to make small adjustments to their daily routines to help stretch available resources through the remainder of the season.

The city is asking residents to take the following steps:

Limit outdoor plant watering to less than 30 minutes and only during the early morning or late evening hours.

Reduce vehicle washing to once every five to seven days, unless required for commercial trucks and equipment.

Run dishwashers and clothes washers only with full loads to avoid unnecessary water use.

Turn off water while brushing teeth and consider other small actions that can collectively make a big impact.

“The city appreciates any help from you in ensuring that our water resources are there for all during the entire summer,” the release stated. “With your help, it’s hoped that it will only be voluntary water restrictions in place this summer and not mandatory.”

For updates or more information, residents are encouraged to follow the City of Forks website or contact City Hall.
