Not all gardeners can grow plants in the ground due to physical disabilities, the threat of wildlife damage to the plants, or lack of space. If in-ground gardening is a challenge for you, learn everything you need to know about growing ornamentals, vegetables, and fruits successfully in containers with veteran Clallam County Master Gardeners Judy English, Susan Kalmar, and Jeanette Stehr-Green on Saturday, August 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
The presentation will cover types of plants that grow well in containers and the selection of containers and soil for optimal plant growth. The presentation also will address the care needed to keep your containers looking beautiful and producing flowers, fruits, and vegetables through the growing season.
English, Kalmar, and Stehr-Green have many years of experience gardening in the ground and in containers. English has been a Master Gardener since 2005, Kalmar has been a Master Gardener since 2017, and Stehr-Green has been a Master Gardener since 2003. All three have received the Lifetime Achievement Award for their many contributions to Clallam County Master Gardeners.
“All About Container Gardening” is part of the Digging Deeper educational series which is free and open to the public. The presentation will be held rain or shine in an outdoor covered area at the Master Gardener Woodcock Demonstration Garden at 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim.
