FTF Brings Crowds, Celebs, and Commerce

A short note this week … what a wild and crazy weekend it was with all the Forever Twilight in Forks (FTF) goers (and a few curious others) in town. I volunteered a little bit at several events.

On Thursday morning I helped out at the VIC as ticket holders picked up their passes, and on Friday I found myself at the Ki’tla Center during the signing and autograph event with actors Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli. Erik Odom—who is basically an honorary Forks resident at this point—was also here. Fun fact: last spring he met with me and Chamber director Lissy via Zoom and shared his idea to donate his FTF fee toward a scholarship for a Forks High School senior planning a career in the Arts. Pretty cool! Watch for more details on that.

Downtown was buzzing all three days, and our merchants were hopping. If you haven’t noticed, the Longhouse Restaurant has officially moved into the old Vagabond spot—just in time for the rush.

There seemed to be less local grumbling this year … or maybe I just didn’t overhear it. Either way, having once owned a business downtown, I can say: I would’ve welcomed this kind of activity with open arms (and probably a broom to sweep up the glitter).

Adding to the excitement, the Nightline crew was out filming. My sister is convinced her car may have earned its fifteen seconds of fame, so keep an eye out for that star-studded moment. The segment on Forks was to air on Tuesday night.

All in all, it looked like the visiting fans had a great time with everything that was planned. Huge thanks to the FTF committee, who work all year to make the weekend memorable. And now … back to something resembling “normal?”
