Forks Elementary School faculty welcomed more than 115 students and their families on Thursday, November 13, for an evening of hands-on fun with math. Each grade level hosted an activity table where students became the teachers, showing their families how to play math games aligned to the standards they are currently learning in class.
Every student took home at least one math game, so they can continue practicing and playing with their families. Many of these take-home games were made possible by cards and dice generously donated by the S’Klallam Tribe.
After completing their games, students treated their families to pizza sponsored by the Quileute Tribe, and enjoyed a math-themed Cake Walk featuring cupcakes sponsored by the Hoh Tribe.
To close the evening, students were invited to the stage to perform several of the songs they learned for the Veterans Day assembly earlier in the week. Forks Elementary staff extend heartfelt gratitude to our local tribes for their ongoing support, as well as a warm thank you to all the families who joined us for a wonderful night of learning, community, and growing excitement for math!
