On Sunday, December 21, at 7 p.m., the First Congregational Church, 280 S. Spartan Ave., will hold a Longest Night Service. The Longest Night Service tradition goes back many years. Our memory tree in our Sanctuary displays ornaments for those who have passed in our community or those who live in our community and are mourning the passing of a loved one. Sometimes the burdens of the Holiday season are just too much to bear on our own, so we come together to support one another and lift our burdens up to the Lord.

There will be readings of comfort and hope, music, a short message, lighting of candles, and hanging ornaments on the memory tree. If you bring an ornament for a loved one, please write on the ornament who it is for. Then when we put them on the tree from year to year, we know who the ornament is for.

This service is open to the entire community, no matter what your belief system, as we are here to support those who are grieving for many different reasons.
